Dry Needling
Dry needling is a therapeutic technique used to treat muscle pain and dysfunction by targeting trigger points, or "knots" within the muscles. Unlike acupuncture, which is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, dry needling is based on modern Western medicine principles. The procedure involves inserting fine, sterile needles into the skin and muscle, specifically at the trigger points, to relieve tension, improve blood flow, and reduce pain. The needles create a localized twitch response that helps release tight muscle bands, promoting healing and restoring normal function. Dry needling is commonly used to treat conditions such as chronic pain, sports injuries, and muscle tightness, and it is often integrated into a comprehensive rehabilitation program.
